Looks of the Near Future

2 Feb

Happy New Year to anyone still reading. It may have been nearly 6 months since my last post, but I’m BACK with lots of pics of the sights and shops of London.

On a trip to Topshop the other day I realised that a trend I hoped never to see again has come around again… NU RAVE. Perhaps in a few months i’ll be kicking myself for binning off the vast collection of neon Nike tees I compiled during my time at London College of Fashion…. Or perhaps i’ll learn from my fashion mistakes and not go there this time around!

To become a fully-fledged Nu Raver you will need: tickets to the Roy Lichtenstein retrospective at the Tate Modern, Oversize tee £22 and Leggings £25 both from Topshop and the latest copy of Super Super. Plus a copy of the first Klaxons album. And if you’re really serious… a Game Boy, worn as a necklace.

don’t hold back

at the weekend I went to see the Chemical Brothers at Hyde Park. despite being about 10 years younger than the average fan you find at their shows, i love the Chems, and when selecting our spot to rave the night away we sussed out ‘true fans’based outfit.  a few give-away signs to look for:

  • any piece of weather-proof gear, probably of Trespass/Regatta branding
  • hiking shoes
  • combat shorts.. or even better, parachute pants!
  • fishing hat
  • anything khaki

i often wish that for one night i could hop in a time machine and go back to the mid-’90s for an illegal rave in a field somewhere in Essex, when all of the above were acceptable attire for a night out, and it was okay for women to not shave their underarms! just one night. i’m not talking about the nu-rave, klaxons-type stuff. i’m talking about this kind of thing:

For now, here’s some of their Glastonbury set from a couple of weeks ago on BBC iPlayer
