The new look New Look

22 Mar

Hi all! Apologies for the lack of posting.  I started a new job last week which hasn’t given me much free time but it has taken me all over the place, visiting different towns and seeing things I wouldn’t normally see.

Last week, I spent some time in the Eden shopping centre in High Wycombe, which is where New Look have been piloting their new shop fit.

New Look seems to change its shopfit quicker than i change my socks! Remember the white with turquoise logo? Then there was white with neon yellow perspex detailing (Wiki has a picture), which was quickly replaced by a black theme with white graphics only 2-3 years ago. It’s almost as if they struggle to find their identity and stick with it. Perhaps this fit will finally be the one that sticks!

It’s very light and white and minimal. I imagine they have taken a lot of inspiration from Forever 21 (read my post on F21 here) but in some areas felt more like Dorothy Perkins.

The curved fixtures are fun. The panelling on the ceiling with the spotlights looks very effective. The lampshades look distinctly like they’ve been purchased from Ikea but there’s more creativity going on here than we’re used to seeing at New Look.

The white footwear display units are very different from the current black and gold units at most stores. The light-ness should draw more attention to the product and probably will be less of a nightmare to keep tidy.

I believe the new fit is now being rolled out so you should be seeing it at a branch near you sometime this year. What do you think of it?
